I wanted to show off some of the neat work done by the team for our project "Get Crafty!". Here's an introductory video, crafted by James and lifted directly from the game, which I think shows off the concept nicely:
There are two big ideas going on here!
The big splashy tech bit is the game taking your stencilled designs, and turning them into loveable, tangible real-world crafts. There's crochet, embroidery, watercolor paintings, papercraft, sandcastles, snowmen, cookies, and more. This is the kind of generative AI magic I've loved seeing in our games – and where I think 2UP has been a leader! Player creativity, right in the heart of the game. Nice.
Here are some of my favorite results from the team, including a few from a 'seasonal update':
I also wanted to call out something more subtle that I'm equally proud of. In earlier versions of the game, players drew their designs freehand with their finger. But guess what? Most players aren't confident at drawing, and most of us struggle to draw on our phone screens with our finger anyway. So I'm really proud of our 'stencil' system. It's mindful and easy on the digits, yet has so much scope for being creative and expressive. I love the peaceful vibes in this screen capture from Joe, as he puts the finishing touches on an adorable little crochet landscape. Kinda magical!
